Scroll down and watch the two videos "How to construct a polygon" "How NOT to construct a polygon"
GEOGEBRA CONSTRUCTION #1 :
Create Perpendicular lines:
Call your teacher over to check it before going on to the next construction
GEOGEBRA CONSTRUCTION #2 :
Create Parallel lines:
The same as construction #1, but create "parallel lines" instead.
Call your teacher over to check it before going on to the next construction
GEOGEBRA CONSTRUCTION #3 :
Create a Perpendicular Bisector:
not done yet
Change the original line into a segment:
step 7: Right click on the line, and uncheck "show object".
Step 8: Use the same 2 points to create a segment instead.
Call your teacher over to check it before going on to the next construction
GEOGEBRA CONSTRUCTION #4 :
Create an Angle Bisector: Call your teacher over to check it before going on to the next construction
GEOGEBRA CONSTRUCTION #5 :
Rectangle: Watch this video (no sound) and mimic it to create a rectangle.
not done yet
After you have made your rectangle, you will notice that you have all these extra parts on the screen.
Hide them by right clicking, and uncheck "show object"
Do this until you have ONLY a rectangle, and no extra lines.
Call your teacher over to check it before going on to the next construction

We know that the angles of a triangle add up to 180.
You are going to write a simple spreadsheet program that if you type in 2 of the angles, it will calculate the third for you.
Click on box B2
Type (in B2): The first angle is
Click on box D2
Type (in D2): The second angle is
Click on box F2
Type (in F2): The third angle is
These are descriptions, we are going to put the actual measurements in the boxes below.
In box B3 type the number 40
In box D3, type the number 60
If those are two of the angles in a triangle, we know that we can subtract them from 180 to find the third angle. BUT WE ARE GOING TO HAVE THE COMPUTER DO THAT FOR US, and it will write the answer in F3
Click on box F3
Type "=180-B3-D3"
(don't include the quotes)
Hit enter
Box F3 should automatically change to 80!
Type any angle measures in B3 and D3, and F3 should automatically calculate what 180 minus those numbers should be
PHYSICAL CONSTRUCTION #1 :
Watch this video. Stop at 1:20.(unedited: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kmTyU8xugUA from 2:45 to 4:01)
Draw the flower!
PHYSICAL CONSTRUCTION #2 :
Watch this video, and draw a perpendicular bisector of segment ABA perpendicular bisector makes a right angle and passes through the midpoint
PHYSICAL CONSTRUCTION #3 :
Watch this video, and draw the bisector of the angleAn angle bisector is a ray that cuts an angle in half
PHYSICAL CONSTRUCTION #4 :
Watch this video, and draw an equilateral triangle. An equilateral triangle is a triangle with all three sides the same length.
